How moderation works
Review the organisation and the service, not individual employees.
Before a review is published
- You confirm your email address. We never publish it.
- Automated checks look for personal information, names of individuals, threats, abuse, accusations of criminality and statements that could be defamatory.
- Reviews that pass are published. Reviews that trip a check are held for a person to read, and may be edited to remove personal details or declined.
Our guidelines
Fine: “The planning department took eight weeks to reply and I thought their communication was terrible.”
Not allowed: “John Smith in planning takes bribes.”
- Write about your own experience, from the last five years.
- Don’t name or identify members of staff, councillors or other members of the public.
- Don’t include phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses or case details.
- No threats, abuse, discriminatory language or allegations of criminal behaviour.
- No advertising, links or campaigning.
Reporting a review
Every review has a “Report” link. If several people report the same review, it is hidden until a moderator has checked it.
Complaints
A review is not a formal complaint. If you want something put right, use the organisation’s own complaints process, which is linked from each fact file.
